50 shades of debris

This drawing represents a fisherman against a background of fog. The sun is missing, as is optimism.
What is the fisherman holding in his hand? A gray plastic bottle that will not fit in his gray bucket, which already contains the other garbage he has caught.

Today’s fisherman is at times a heartbroken witness to the sad evolution of our seas and oceans.

Distraught, he observes the devastating effects of our consumption choices, but also of the failure of our waste treatment systems.

To make matters worse, he also knows that he sees only a visible part of the problem. The proof he’s got in his hand – the new plastic bottle he just found – is so tangible that it’s frightening.
The first victims – marine flora and fauna – are silent.
Who will the next victims be? Are these victims also executioners?
